Congresswoman Luria Kicks Off Early Voting in Virginia with Meet and Greet in Suffolk
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Today, 20-year Navy veteran and former small business owner Congresswoman Elaine Luria (VA-02) kicked off early voting in Virginia by meeting and greeting voters, supporters, and elected officials in Suffolk.
“It was great being in Suffolk this morning to meet and greet voters on the first day that people can cast their ballot in Virginia,” Congresswoman Luria said. “There is too much at stake this November to stay home, and I urge all Coastal Virginians to make a plan to vote and get to the polls. While my opponent continues to prove that she cannot be trusted with your vote, I will continue to deliver for Hampton Roads by expanding health care for our veterans, protecting the right to choose, and growing the Navy to stand up to China.”
Congresswoman Luria has a proven record of delivering for Coastal Virginia in Congress. From passing the PACT Act to cutting prescription drug costs and securing millions in Community Project Funding, to protecting the right to choose and adding $37 billion to the defense budget, Congresswoman Luria is an independent voice in Congress that puts people over politics and works across the aisle to get results.
While Congresswoman Luria delivers, Jen Kiggans continues to double down on her extreme positions that are out of touch with Coastal Virginians. She has refused to say that Joe Biden is the president and supports a national abortion ban introduced by Congressional Republicans.
Kiggans insultingly called abortion a “shiny object” that is being used to “distract,” and applauded the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, which stripped millions of women of their rights.
Kiggans has said she is “100%, unapologetically pro-life.” She has said that abortion was her motivation to run for office, and she pledged to prioritize “the right to life.” Kiggans also supports allowing states to ban abortion without exceptions.
