Kiggans Backers Introduce National Abortion Ban After She Claims it’s a “State-Level Issue”
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Republicans in Congress introduced an extreme national abortion ban on Tuesday after Jen Kiggans tried to hide her record by claiming abortion is a “state-level issue.”
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Rep. Christopher H. Smith (R-N.J.) introduced the legislation and vowed that the bill will be voted on in a Republican-led Congress. The proposed national abortion ban is being spearheaded by the Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America group, which wants to “end abortion” and endorsed Kiggans just days before the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.
“Congressional Republicans made clear what we have long known: their goal is to pass an extreme national abortion ban and further restrict reproductive health care for women in the wake of Roe vs. Wade being overturned,” Congresswoman Luria said. “Banning abortion nationwide and criminalizing reproductive health care is not a ‘state-level issue’ as Jen Kiggans has disingenuously claimed. Abortion is a deeply personal decision, and politicians like Jen and Congressional Republicans should have no place in a woman’s right to choose. Coastal Virginians know exactly where Jen Kiggans stands on an extreme national abortion ban that will jeopardize the health and safety of women across the country.”
Last week, Kiggans insultingly called abortion a “shiny object” that is being used to “distract.” While Jen applauded the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, millions of women were stripped of their rights, and states across the country moved to ban abortion.
Jen has said she is “100%, unapologetically pro-life.” She has said that abortion was her motivation to run for office, and she pledged to prioritize “the right to life.” Kiggans also supports allowing states to ban abortion without exceptions.
