Polls closed at 7 pm in the two special elections today in Virginia – for the VA04 U.S. House seat vacated due to the untimely death of then-Rep. Donald McEachin (Democrat Jennifer McClellan vs. Republican Leon Benjamin); and for the Prince William Board of County Supervisors Gainesville district seat (Democrat Kerensa Sumers vs. Republican Bob Weir – see here for more on this race). Expectations are that Jennifer McClellan will win by a big margin, the only question being HOW big (65%-35%? 70%-30%?) and that the Gainesville district race could be close. Stay tuned, and of course check out the Virginia Department of Elections site for official results, which should start coming in shortly!
