Virginia NAACP Hosts Post Legislative Briefing

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA – The Virginia State Conference NAACP (Virginia NAACP) hosted on Friday, March 3rd, a Post Legislative Briefing. The press conference recording can be found here.

Due to the closure of the 2023 Virginia Legislative Session, the Virginia NAACP addressed how the current legislative decisions will impact the community.

Virginia NAACP President Robert N. Barnette, Jr. issued the following statement today:

“We are calling for the opportunity to have our voices heard due to communities of color being underrepresented in Virginia.”

The Virginia NAACP has adopted a 2023 Legislative Agenda that focuses on Education, Healthcare, Housing, Environmental Climate Justice, Race and Justice, Workforce, Labor and Economic Empowerment, and Voting Rights and Political Representation.

Remarks were also shared by the Virginia NAACP Political Action Chair, Gaylene Kanoyton, and Legislative Coordinator for the Virginia NAACP, Tyee Mallory. The 2023 General Assembly Post Legislative Briefing can be viewed here.
