Last week, an out-of-state Republican “dark money” SUPERPAC spent $50,000 on mailings urging Loudoun’s Republican/Independent voters to interfere with the Democratic primary.
These are desperate, unethical attempts by Republicans and conservatives to corrupt the intent of election laws to steal OUR Democratic primary election.
Virginia, unlike most states, does not register voters by party. Any voter can participate in any primary/caucus process if they want to – as long as they only try to do so in one party process per year. The Republicans did not have contested primaries/caucuses this year in Loudoun County – so their voters are free to vote in the Democratic primary.
This is the first time in modern political memory that the Loudoun County Republican Committee is waging a coordinated effort to manipulate the Democratic primaries.
We MUST fight back against these dirty tricks by ensuring a massive turnout of Democratic voters in our own primary.
Please – urge your friends and neighbors to vote on Tuesday. Reach out to one of the primary campaigns and pick up a canvassing packet.
