Democrat Nadarius Clark Rips (White) Republican Opponent – “darkening my skin, my opponent is making it very clear that a vote for [me] is a vote for a black man”

My opponent is starting to show his true colors and he’s doing it by darkening mine…

It doesn’t matter which side you are on; this is not okay.

These types of attacks are rooted in the idea of colorism. Black people with lighter skin have been perceived to have more European features and, therefore, have closer proximity to whiteness.

By darkening my skin, my opponent is making it very clear that a vote for Nadarius Clark is a vote for a black man.

It is never okay to darken someone’s skin for your own political gain. Not only is it just plain wrong, it is deeply offensive, especially to people of color.

District 84 deserves a leader who cares about their constituents, regardless of race, class, gender, or sexuality. By approving this ad my opponent has shown that he values the exact opposite.
