Biden-Harris 2024 Pans MAGA Field Ahead of Iowa Caucus

Today, Monday, January 15, Biden-Harris 2024 National Advisory Board Member Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, Minnesota Senator Tina Smith, and Biden-Harris 2024 Campaign Co-Chair Jeffrey Katzenberg participated in a press conference in Des Moines, Iowa ahead of the Iowa caucus to remind voters what’s at stake this November as Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans launch an all-out assault on Americans’ freedoms. The speakers also highlighted today’s announcement that Team Biden-Harris raised $97 million in the fourth quarter of 2023, with a historic $117 million cash on hand – the highest total amassed by any Democratic candidate in history at this point in the cycle.
Read highlights from the press conference below:

“There is no difference between the Republican candidates in this field when it comes to what it means for working families, and for all Americans who want to better life for themselves and for their communities. Tonight’s contest is simply a question of whether you like your MAGA Trump agenda wrapped in the original packaging or with high heels or with lifts in their boots. Instead, the real decision will be made in the general election where the stakes couldn’t be higher…That’s Trump’s MAGA agenda. It’s a plan to rip away freedoms, undermine our democracy and scratch the backs of the most powerful while turning their backs on the working families of our country,” said Biden-Harris 2024 National Advisory Board Member Illinois Governor JB Pritzker. “In stark contrast, we’ve got President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. No president running for reelection in history, has had a stronger record of job creation, making sure workers earn a good living and doing it in a bipartisan way than Joe Biden. While Trump spent his time in office golfing, Biden is rebuilding our roads and bridges and airports, bringing manufacturing jobs back to this country, and making our nation energy independent, more so than ever before.”

“Every one of these extremist candidates are attacking women’s freedom to make their own decisions about abortion. These extreme Republican candidates want a national ban on abortion and that’s what they will try to do if given the chance. Here are the facts: all of these candidates for president celebrated the overturning of Roe. Roe was overturned because Donald Trump and the judges, he put on the United States Supreme Court did that. Just last week, Donald Trump bragged about that saying, and I quote, ‘I did it’ and I am ‘proud.’ to have done it. All of these candidates would appoint extremist anti-choice anti-abortion judges just like one Supreme Court that overturned Roe and none of them will protect access to abortion. Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis both have supported 6-week bans,” said Minnesota Senator Tina Smith. “The reality is that none of these candidates trust women to make their own decisions about abortion because they believe that they know better and that is why we cannot trust them to be president. Long before I was a United States Senator, I worked with Planned Parenthood. And in that job every single day, I watched women walk in the doors of our clinic ready to make the best decisions for themselves and their families and they did not need Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis or Nikki Haley or anyone in the examination room with them telling them what they should do because they made these very personal decisions.”

“Last Quarter, Team Biden-Harris raised more than $97 million and recorded $117 million of cash on hand. …I want to pause and just underscore the historic nature of this haul. It means the Biden-Harris campaign is entering the election year with more cash on hand than any democratic candidate in history at this point in the cycle and a significantly more cash than the 100 million dollars Republicans have just hemorrhaged, in Iowa alone, fighting to out-MAGA one another,” said Biden-Harris 2024 Campaign Co-Chair Jeffrey Katzenberg. “December was our strongest grassroots fundraising month in a single month since our launch. Nearly 1 million supporters have made more than 2.3 million contributions, a clear signal that donors are taking consistent action early in our fundraising program… 97% of our donations in Q4 are under $200 and the average grassroots contribution was just under $42. This tells us two things. First, Joe Biden day one investment in our party infrastructure both nationally and at the individual state levels are smart, strategic and returning dividends. And two, that historical haul, proudly powered by strong and growing grassroots enthusiasm, sends a very clear message: the Biden-Harris coalition knows the stakes of this election and is ready to win this November.”
