[UPDATED] 1Q26 Fundraising Numbers for Virginia Congressional Candidates Starting to Come In…

Fmr. Rep. Elaine Luria Raises >$1.75M, Has Over $2M Cash-on-Hand

I’m going to use this post for press releases on 1Q26 fundraising from 2026 Virginia candidates for US House and US Senate; will update as I get them…

First, VERY impressive fundraising by former Rep. Elaine Luria (D-VA02), who’s running to unseat the godawful Rep. Jen Kiggans (R-VA02) this November.

[UPDATED 4/15]

Rep. Luria Raises More Than $1.75 Million in Q1, Has Over $2 Million Cash on Hand to Flip VA-02

Best ever Q1 haul for Rep. Luria, nearly $3 million raised since November launch

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Former small business owner, 20-year U.S. Navy veteran, and two-term member of Congress Rep. Elaine Luria raised more than $1.75 million in the first quarter of 2026, continuing her momentum to unseat vulnerable Republican Rep. Jen Kiggans. The first quarter haul is a Q1 record for Rep. Luria, outraising herself as an incumbent in 2020 and 2022.

The campaign finished the quarter with over $2 million cash on hand and nearly $3 million raised since launch in November. Rep. Luria raised more than $1.1 million in Q4 of 2025 after hauling in $500,000 in the first 24 hours of her campaign launch.

“Virginians are fed up with the failed policies of Jen Kiggans and her boss Donald Trump which are raising prices on everything from gas to groceries. Our momentum to flip this seat, take back the House, and put people first grows more and more every day,” Rep. Luria said. “I will continue to fight for the Coastal Virginians who work too hard yet face rising costs because of Jen Kiggans putting her own political interests above the issues that matter most to families in Hampton Roads.”

In Q1, the campaign received over 8,000 individual contributions averaging less than $100.

In addition to being added to the DCCC’s competitive Red to Blue program, Rep. Luria has secured key endorsements from Gov. Abigail Spanberger, Sen. Tim Kaine, Sen. Mark Warner, President Pro Tempore of the Senate of Virginia Louise Lucas, former Gov. Terry McAuliffe, VoteVets, New Politics, 314 Action Fund, League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, EMILY’s List, DMFI, New Democrat Coalition Action Fund, and Elect Democratic Women.

Next, here’s a press release from VA07 Democratic candidate Dan Helmer.

Dan Helmer Raises Massive $640,000 In First Quarter in VA07

Campaign in Driver’s Seat with More than 80 Elected Democrats Backing Helmer, Including Reps. Vindman & Pat Ryan, Five Labor Unions, VoteVets, former Governor Northam, and more than Half of General Assembly Democrats

FAIRFAX – Today, Iraq and Afghanistan veteran and Delegate Dan Helmer announced that his campaign for Virginia’s Seventh Congressional District has raised $640,000 – a massive sum in just five weeks.

“At this moment, Virginia needs proven progressive champions who can do more than throw a punch on Donald Trump – they need to be able to land it. Most candidates promise to be fighters – I’ve actually done it. I’m proud that our campaign’s message is resonating with voters across the Commonwealth. I’ve never taken corporate PAC money in any race, and I’m not starting now.”

Helmer raised this money even as he had the most successful legislative session in his career, passing 20 bills including: industry standards for gun manufacturers and dealers, ending the issuance of Confederate license plates, banning the teaching of right wing January 6th propaganda in Virginia public schools, and passing the first assault weapons ban in the South.

KEY BACKGROUND ON THIS FILING PERIOD:

  • More than 2500 contributions

  • 90% of donations are less than $200

  • More donations from Virginia than any other state

  • Zero corporate PAC dollars

  • Zero money from Fairfax casino lobbyists

  • The most raised by a candidate who resides in the new 7th district

On this one, note that Shannon Taylor previously has announced her “Intention to Run for Redistricted VA05 ‘upon passage of new maps'”

  • VA07 Democratic candidate J.P. Cooney says he’s raised $543,533, “powered by the broadest grassroots support of any candidate.”

Perriello Raises Over $1.4 million in First Four months

Campaign announces $689,000 raised in Q1 and surging support to solidify the race as a key pick-up opportunity for Democrats.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – Today, Tom Perriello announced a record-breaking first quarter fundraising total of over $689,000 from thousands of supporters across every corner of the 5th and 6th district. Since launching his campaign in December, Tom has raised over $1.4 million total and currently holds over $1.1 million cash on hand.

“The flood of support from every corner of our region has been incredible. The message is clear: Virginians are ready to hold this Congress accountable for jacking up costs and hijacking our freedoms.” said Perriello. “People are excited to see a campaign that can win in November and can make that win matter by delivering results for hardworking families throughout the Blue Ridge.”

Building on this momentum, the campaign is hitting the ground running across the district, barnstorming this week with a full slate of listening events and rallies scheduled this week in Staunton, Harrisonburg, Blacksburg, Roanoke, Charlottesville, Waynesboro, and Lynchburg.

Tom previously represented Virginia’s Fifth District, the only Democrat in a generation to have won a Congressional race in this region. Tom cast a courageous vote to pass the Affordable Care Act, and later worked for President Obama as a US Special Envoy. Tom led campaigns to double the minimum wage, expand Medicaid, protect reproductive freedoms and expand voting rights.

Tom enters the second quarter with growing support from across the Commonwealth. He has earned the backing of U.S. Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner, Governor Abigail Spanberger,  Lieutenant Governor Ghazala Hashmi, and former Governor Ralph Northam. Locally, Tom has secured over 30 endorsements from elected officials (and counting)  including: Charlottesville Mayor Juandiego Wade, Charlottesville Vice Mayor Natalie Oschrin, Harrisonburg Mayor Deanne Reed, Roanoke Vice Mayor Terry McGuire, Danville Mayor Alonzo Jones, former Mayor of Danville Sherman Saunders, every member of the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors and Charlottesville City Council.

If the April 21st referendum passes fair election maps, Tom will run in the newly drawn 6th District — a lean-Democratic seat connecting Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, Blacksburg, and parts of the Shenandoah Valley and Blue Ridge, a district in which Tom won every single locality in the 2017 Democratic primary for Governor. Should the measure be defeated, Tom will continue his campaign in the current 5th District.
