Courtesy of VPAP, here are the mid-year cash-on-hand leaders/laggards for US Senate and for a U.S. House districts in Virginia. A few takeaways:
- Sen. Mark Warner is annihilating his potential Republican opponents, including this far-right extremist (the likely nominee), in terms of fundraising. Hopefully, this will translate into a massive win for Warner this November!
- Rep. Eugene Vindman (D-VA07) is far ahead of all other U.S. House members from Virginia, as well as candidates, with a massive $6.7 million cash-on-hand. Why does he need this much money? I mean, VA07 is somewhat competitive, of course, but also I’ve heard that Vindman is a possible U.S. Senate candidate for 2030, when Sen. Tim Kaine presumably retires. Meanwhile, I wonder if Vindman will transfer any of his money to the DCCC.
- Unfortunately, Rep. Rob Wittman (R-VA01) and Rep. Jen Kiggans (R-VA02) also have large amount of cash-on-hand. Fortunately, former Rep. Elaine Luria (D-VA02) is keeping pace with Kiggans in terms of cash-on-hand, also outraised Kiggans in 2Q26. As for Wittman, his potential Democratic challengers are far behind, with the only one keeping pace with Wittman in terms of 2Q26 fundraising, and within shouting distance of Wittman in terms of cash-on-hand, being Henrico County Commonwealth’s Attorney Shannon Taylor. The other VA01 Democratic candidates trail faaaar behind.
- Tom Perriello is kicking serious ass in VA05, significantly outraising incumbent Rep. John McGuire (R-VA05) in 2Q26 and with far more cash-on-hand. It’s a tough, reddish district, but if anyone can win it this November, it’s Tom Perriello for sure – the guy’s a monster (in a good way, lol)!
- VERY impressive fundraising by VA06 Democratic nominee Beth Macy, who actually has more money than the (far-right-extremist, worthless) incumbent, Rep. Ben Cline (R-VA06). Go “Paper Girl!”
- In VA08, incumbent Rep. Don Beyer has massive amounts more money than any of his opponents, and presumably will cruise to victory on August 4 in the Democratic primary.
- In DEEP-red VA09, the godawful Rep. Morgan Griffith (R-VA09) unfortunately has massive amounts more money than any of his potential Democratic opponents (Joy Powers leads Adam Murphy and Douglas Crockett in cash-on-hand).
