UPDATE 8/3: The media keeps whitewashing/sanewashing the frontrunner for the VA GOP’s 2026 US Senate nomination, Bert Mizusawa…and ignoring his many, many batshit-crazy comments. For instance, this afternoon he said the following:
“Well, I think [Sen. Mark Warner’s] abdicated a position of trust. And I mentioned the Russia collusion fraud basically deprived Donald Trump of his first term or the productivity of his first term. But I say even more important, it deprived the electorate that put him in office of that first term. And it was totally fabricated. Nothing was there. And there’s certain things I know that I don’t think anybody else knows because I was in the middle of what happened. And I should say what didn’t happen. And I know firsthand. I got a knock on my door last time we talked. I mentioned this on a Sunday. It was the FBI and I basically spent a couple of hours telling them that nothing happened and I could prove it. It’s hard to prove a negative, but none of that’s all the light of the day with the Mueller report. So that’s number one.”
WTF?
The other day, I posted about Bert Mizusawa, the frontrunner (80% likely to win, according to Kalshi) for the 2026 Virginia Republican nomination for U.S. Senate against Sen. Mark Warner. The previous post had audio of Mizusawa musing about how Donald Trump could serve an unconstitutional third term, as well as on how amazing Trump’s corrupt ballroom is, and how Mizusawa would love to donate to it. I also noted in that post how the “mainstream” political media has basically 100% whitewashed Mizusawa as a normal conservative, while only saying positive things about the guy (e.g., “retired U.S. Army major general who went on to serve as a deputy undersecretary of the Army and, notably, a staff member on the Senate Armed Services Committee”; “his staff experience on the Senate Armed Services panel gives him a unique perspective”; “an attorney, recognizing and understanding the importance of the judicial branch”). So just like we saw in 2021 with Glenn Youngkin, in 2024 with Donald Trump, and in 2025 with Winsome Earle-Sears/John Reid/Jason Miyares, the “mainstream” political media is yet again working to normalize/whitewash/sanewash a right-wing radical, this time Bert Mizusawa.
More evidence for Mizusawa’s extremism, on top of wanting Trump to serve an unconstitutional third term? Check out the following audio, of Mizusawa speaking yesterday to the Albemarle County Republican Committee, to which he said the following (bolding added by me for emphasis of the craziest parts):
“The one thing I could do was to help Donald Trump become the president and put him in a position where he could nominate and get confirmed three Supreme Court justices. That happened and these people have come through. They have come through. Now there was a little bit of a disappointment recently on some of the decisions and I can ignore birthright citizenship. I knew that one was going to be tough. However, I was very happy to see that decision was 5 to 4. I thought it was going to be worse than that. So now we have a road map to make sure number one, we want to make sure only US citizens vote. That should be clear today. The second thing is we want to make sure that people don’t take advantage of a post-Civil War loophole and support [?] our country by having anchor babies. And something else that’s a little more difficult is the US census has us counting people, not just US citizens. And follow what that is. Every state that gets illegal aliens into their state just for the purpose of get counted, that will be reflected in the congressional representation. So that’s undermining the representation that states have that do. So I know that there’s black-and-white issues there.”
Truly crazy, disturbing stuff there. In fact, as Jamelle Bouie explains, “There are few lines in the Constitution that are as straightforward as the citizenship clause of the 14th Amendment: ‘All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside…The explicit aim of the clause was to settle the question of American citizenship for good.”
But clearly, Bert Misuzsawa does NOT believe this question is settled “for good”; to the contrary, he thinks it’s some sort of “post-Civil War loophole” to greenlight “anchor babies,” flood states with “illegal aliens…for the purpose of getting counted,” skew the Census and “congressional representation.”
Seriously…WTF??? Anyway, let’s see if the “mainstream” media deems this as newsworthy, or instead continues its whitewashing of the likely 2026 VA GOP nominee for U.S. Senate.

“I recognized that getting the right person in the White House was the way to do it because he would be able to appoint Supreme Court justices. And one of those justices, Neil Gorsuch, was my summer intern back in 1991. And so, I’m very proud of the work he’s done. He’s taken some a lead on some major decisions, including getting rid of bad law. I mean, Roe v Wade, regardless of what you feel, was not good law for the Constitution.”
