In my news clips this morning, I linked to several articles about Trump’s latest insanity, including Trump Will Make South Korea Pay For His Iran Humiliation (“His rage is driving him to make irrational policy choices.”), Trump Orders Pentagon to Curtail Military Exercises With Ally South Korea ( Trump is much more comfortable with brutal dictatorships, our enemies, etc. than democracies/our allies…) and Trump’s Overture to Kim Jong-un Strains Alliance With South Korea (Gotta wonder if South Korea will move to build nuclear weapons.). Now, just for the record, North Korea is a brutal communist/totalitarian hereditary dictatorship, a rogue nuclear nation, a threat to U.S. allies and potentially to the U.S. itself, etc., while South Korea is one of our oldest allies. So who is Trump siding with, even as he screams “COMMUNISM” about Democrats in this country? That’s right, the brutal communist dictatorship of North Korea.
So, of course, every American should be outraged – but not surprised, because it’s been Trump’s behavior pattern for years now – by this lunacy. But how much do you want to bet that we won’t her a peep from the same Republicans (e.g., John McGuire) who love to rant about “communism” re: what Trump’s doing here? For now, see below for whatever reactions we DO get from Virginia’s members of Congress. For starters, here’s Sen. Mark Warner, who says:
“Holy crap, this one even surprised me. Trump deciding that he’s going to side with North Korea and downgrade military exercises with South Korea. Isn’t this the same North Korea that has been helping Putin in his war against Ukraine? Isn’t this the same Kim Jong-un who all of the West has thought for ages was a rogue state. Somebody who spends billions in crypto crimes. Donald Trump’s new bestie, Kim Jong-un. Well, he’s always had another bestie, Vladimir Putin. Whose side is he really on? He’s sure as heck not on America’s allies side. Donald Trump – from chaos in Iran to unwilling to step up and support Ukraine to burning allies all over the world. None of this makes America safer.”
