By any metric you can think of, Rep. John McGuire (R-VA05) is an extremist – MAGA fanatic, Trump toady, was literally at the January 6, 2021 insurrection in the pro-Trump mob, got absolutely nothing done in the Virginia General Assembly and now is getting absolutely nothing done in the US House, etc, etc. And, as an added bonus, the guy’s also an absolute loon and imbecile – just listen to him for a minute or two and you can come to no other conclusion. Anyway, so now this pathetic excuse for a “Congresman” is facing superb former Rep. Tom Perriello, who did a gazillion times better job representing VA05 than McGuire’s doing. And given a strong “blue wave” political environment this fall, which is a strong possibility based on all the polling we’re seeing, McGuire stands a serious chance of losing his seat to Perriello.
So how’s McGuire reacting to this threat? Unsurprisingly, not well! For the latest example of McGuire’s utter hysteria/panic, plus wild lies and insanity, over the Perriello challenge, see below for video of his appearance on Fox “News” on Sunday…in which the words “communism,” “socialism” and “Soros” keep getting thrown around. Drinking game when you hear McGuire speak: take a shot every time you hear him say buzz words like “communism,” “socialism,” “Soros,” “open borders,” etc? [Asked about Tom Perriello’s candidacy, McGuire launches into this unhinged tirade] “The biggest thing is I think all of Americans are watching what’s happening in New York and in Michigan and Wisconsin. Well, what I would tell them is these problems are happening all across the country. You know, communist Russia, they to destabilize the Middle East, they use mass immigration. They weaponize immigration to destabilize the region. [Uhhhh…wuuuut? First of all, Russia isn’t “communist,” it’s a corrupt dictatorship led by Donald Trump’s BFF, war criminal Vladimir Putin! Second, how did Russia “weaponize immigration to destablize” the Middle East? Did we all miss that? In short, WTF is McGuire babbling about?] But in this case, it’s the Democrats using socialism or communism supporting the open borders and the mass migration to destabilize our country. [NONE of this is even remotely true, certainly not about Tom Perriello or any mainstream Democrats.] And I have a question. When will the Democrats stop being for them and start being for us? [This is a slogan McGuire’s clearly been told to say by Republican message gurus, but it’s total bullshit, just as it was in 2024 when Trump used it against Kamala Harris.] And what I mean by that is when will the Democrats stop being for the people that want to destroy our country and start being for Americans? [See previous comment.] It’s going to be a big race and it’s going to be common sense versus crazy communism [In no way/shape/form does John McGuire represent “common sense,” nor does Tom Perriello – as McGuire himself points out, someone who was a moderate or even conservative Dem when he was in the US House, into “crazy communism”] because everything the Democrat [sic] Party is doing right now is crazy communism [100% false; also note that if you look at the polling, on issue after issue, Democrats are in the majority – often the LARGE majority – of the American public, which according to John McGuire must be “crazy communists” LOL]…The district didn’t pick [Perriello] I believe George Soros-funded allies picked him [Hahahaha, wuuuut? McGuire’s just going to keep saying “Soros” and “communism” the next three months – ugh]. And he’s been highly funded by George Soros, who again during the Biden administration, Tom Perriello led their Open Society Foundation and their number one goal is pushing this mass immigration to destabilize our country [Needless to say, this isn’t true, but it IS very revealing about McGuire’s warped mind, paranoia, ignorance, etc. – all traits that are NOT desirable in a public official, to put it mildly!]. 15 to 20 million illegal criminal aliens came into our country and we have a housing shortage. What did you think would happen? Inflation is up. What do you think? Where are they going to sleep? …They’ve overwhelmed our resources, our hospitals, our schools, and everything else. [There is absolutely NO WAY that “15 to 20 million illegal criminal aliens” ever “came into our country”; in fact, the vast majority of these people just want to work hard and make better lives for themselves and their families…this is just pure fear mongering, bigotry, demagoguery, etc. Disgusting. Also, that’s NOT why “we have a housing shortage” or why “inflation is up” or why supposedly our hopsitals and schools are “overwhelmed” – utter bullshit, lies, etc. by MAGA McGuire. Also, notice how the Fox “News” douchebag doesn’t push back on ANY of McGuire’s insanity and lies? Totally f’ed up.] “
