Elaine Luria Releases Two Ads Contrasting Her Record of Lowering Health Care Costs with Jen Kiggans’ Record of Kicking 21,000 Virginians in VA-02 Off Their Health Insurance
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Today, former small business owner and 20-year Navy veteran Elaine Luria released two new Ads, “Nurse Like Me” and “Every Day,” contrasting her record of lowering health care costs by capping insulin at $35 per month with Jen Kiggans’ record of voting with Donald Trump 100% of the time to kick 21,000 Virginians in VA-02 off their health insurance in order to give tax cuts to billionaires.
“I believe that every Virginian, regardless of where they live or how much money they make, should have access to affordable health care. That’s why I voted to cap insulin at $35 per month and to allow Medicare to negotiate the cost of prescription drugs,” Elaine said. “Meanwhile, Jen Kiggans has voted 100% of the time with Donald Trump to kick 21,000 Virginians in VA-02 off their health insurance to pay for tax cuts for billionaires. We need leaders in Washington who will do what’s best for Hampton Roads, not just whatever Donald Trump tells them to.”
In August, Elaine released her plan to Make Health Care Affordable and Accessible for Every Virginian, which calls for cutting the cost of care, cutting the complexity of care, and closing the rural health care gap.
When it comes to health care, Jen Kiggans has established a pattern of promising Virginians one thing in public, only to turn around and vote the other way in Washington. Kiggans lied when she promised to protect access to health care, only to turn around and vote for the largest cuts to Medicaid in history. Kiggans lied when she said she would extend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits, but then voted to allow health care premiums to skyrocket.
