Senate Democrats Call Out Miyares’s Waste, Lies
RICHMOND, Va.: Over the weekend, Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares announced the formation of an Election Integrity Unit within his office.
Majority Leader Dick Saslaw said: “During the General Assembly, Attorney General Miyares sought $4+ million in funding for additional positions within his office. With severe staffing shortages continuing in the office of the Attorney General, Miyares has announced his mission to chase after election fraud despite evidence to the contrary. There is a pattern here–perhaps Mr. Miyares should concentrate on directing his efforts to more constructive matters.”
Caucus Chair Mamie Locke said: “The Attorney General’s announcement is one more attack in the war the Virginia GOP is waging on the right to vote in the Commonwealth. Not only is he propagating the Big Lie, but is throwing away millions of taxpayer dollars to discriminate and intimidate voters, particularly those of color. You have to look no further than our actions regarding another member of the Senate who chose to spew pure fiction and engage in insurrection to see how we handle attacks on the Constitution.”
