Here are a few national and Virginia news headlines, political and otherwise, for Sunday, August 2.
As Virginians face the grim milestone of 90,000 COVID cases & the threat from Hurricane Isaias, President Trump is spending his day playing golf, or whatever this is. We don’t need more weekend golf trips. We need a president who will work to contain this pandemic. https://t.co/q97kd2trsE

- Coronavirus threat rises across U.S.: ‘We just have to assume the monster is everywhere’ (Lots of good information in this WaPo article, but…the phrase, “Some governors immediately took the White House warnings to heart” led to this top-rated comment – “What kind of crappy reporting is that? The three of you should be fired on the spot! The “White House” has given no such warnings. Fauci, Birx, Johns-Hopkins, NIH, etc. are NOT the “White House”. We don’t hear any warnings at all from Trump, or even his wife. All we hear is voo-doo medicine and nothing about distancing, masks, or even washing hands. Trump is too busy playing golf and deflecting to other nonsense like China, hydroxycholoroquine, delaying the Election, Sleepy Joe. He’s not even participating to guide Congress to come up with a decent relief package and, instead, seems to be enjoying watching America suffer with its back against the wall to try to put food on the table. The “White House” is the reason for most of the deaths we’ve suffered. The “White House” literally is guilty of negligent homicide for the vast majority of the 150k deaths so far.”)
