Monday (1/18) Virginia Sets Record-High 2-Day (+17,159), 3-Day (+23,916), 10-Day (+58,633) New COVID-19 Cases

New COVID-19 cases up 7,245 in one day...the second-highest new cases # since the pandemic began.

See below for graphics of the newly posted COVID-19 numbers by the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia Hospital & Healthcare Association. So, at this point (1/18), in Virginia we’re at 446,550 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 19,982 hospitalizations and 5,739 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 7,245 (+1.7%) in the latest statistics, which is a slower rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 9,914 (+2.3%), but still the second-highest one-day increase in new COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began. As for hospitalizations, they went up 69 (+0.35%), which is a slightly faster rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 67 (+0.3%).  Deaths are reported +10, compared to +23 the previous day. The number of PCR-ONLY test results is currently at 4,852,729 (up 45,333 from yesterday).
