Today, Tom Perriello is releasing the final TV and radio ads of his Democratic primary campaign for governor of Virginia.
The 60-second TV ad, “Energy,” showcases the grassroots enthusiasm and momentum driving Tom’s progressive campaign, featuring footage of Tom with U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders at a rally this spring, President Barack Obama at a 2010 rally, and of U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren speaking about Tom’s progressive values. “Tom’s victory will be a signal all across this country,” Sanders says in the ad. “We will not be a nation that gives tax breaks to billionaires, that scapegoats minorities and cuts programs for working people and the sick. Tom’s victory will show that America’s moral compass is pointing in a very different direction.” The ad also features Obama saying, “He didn’t go to Washington to do what was easy, to do what was popular. He went to do what was right.” At the ad’s conclusion, Warren says, “If he’s governor, he would be terrific.”
The TV ad premiered Thursday evening during the highly-watched Rachel Maddow Show on MSNBC in the Washington, D.C., market.
The 60-second radio ad, “Joshua,” features President Obama’s top faith advisor Joshua DuBois speaking about Tom’s faith and commitment to issues of justice and fairness. “Long before Tom was a congressman,” DuBois says, “his parents and church taught him the values of service and a purpose-driven life.” DuBois, the former director of the White House Office of Faith Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, began working for Obama in 2004, managed Obama’s fatherhood initiative, and still sends Obama daily devotionals. “I’m urging you,” DuBois adds, “Vote for my friend Tom Perriello this Tuesday, June 13, so all of Virginia has a strong voice for fairness. Your vote matters.”
The radio ad will begin airing during GOTV weekend and will run through primary day.

Joshua DuBois: This is Joshua DuBois, President Obama’s longtime faith advisor, and I want to tell you why I’m supporting Democrat Tom Perriello for Governor of Virginia. But first, you should listen to President Obama describe Tom’s service to Virginia in Congress.
President Obama, from 2010: Tom went to Washington to make college more affordable for students and families. He went to fight for jobs in Virginia. Tom Perriello to do what’s hard, he went to do what is right.
DuBois: Long before Tom was a congressman, his parents and church taught him the values of service and a purpose-driven life. And like President Obama, Tom turned down high-paying jobs after law school so that he could fight for racial justice and ending poverty. This is Joshua DuBois, President Obama’s faith advisor, and I’m urging you: vote for my friend Tom Perriello this Tuesday, June 13, so all of Virginia has a strong voice for fairness. Your vote matters.
