So, at this point (10/30), in Virginia we’re at 179,639 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 12,511 hospitalizations and 3,643 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 1,456 (+0.8%) in the latest statistics, which is the same rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 1,429 (+0.8%) . The number of TOTAL test results is currently at 2,811,824 TOTAL test results (up 27,939 from yesterday; note that, according to researchers at Harvard, we need 21,145 test results/day for mitigation, 81,741/day for suppression). As for hospitalizations, they went up 57 (+0.5%), which is slightly slower rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 70 (+0.6%). Deaths are reported +7 compared to +20 the previous day.
