So, at this point (1/27), in Virginia we’re at 488,553 total reported – confirmed plus probable – cases (note that actual cases, as well as deaths, could be higher, maybe even a LOT higher, based on stories like this one in the NY Times), 20,986 hospitalizations and 6,228 deaths from COVID-19. The number of reported cases went up 5,227 (+1.1%) in the latest statistics, which is a slightly faster rate of increase than the day before, when reported cases were up 4,707 (+1.0%). As for hospitalizations, they went up 126 (+0.6%), which is a slightly faster rate of increase than the day before, when hospitalizations were up 96 (+0.5%). Deaths are reported +54, compared to +93 the previous day. The number of PCR-ONLY test results is currently at 5,112,697 (up 33,386 from yesterday).
