Luria Campaign Releases Third TV Ad, Highlights Jen Kiggans’ Abortion Extremism
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – Congresswoman Elaine Luria (VA-02) released a new 30-second ad today titled “When,” highlighting her opponent’s extreme stance to make abortion illegal and allow politicians to ban abortion in all cases, including rape and incest.
“When Roe v. Wade was overturned, Jen Kiggans celebrated while millions of women were stripped of their rights. Her abortion extremism threatens women in Coastal Virginia and throughout the country,” Congresswoman Luria said. “The government should have no place in a woman’s deeply personal decision about her own reproductive health care. I will continue to champion women’s rights and fight for the right to choose.”
Jen Kiggans applauded the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade in June, a devastating decision that allows states to ban abortion with no exceptions for rape, incest, or to protect the life of the mother. Kiggans has said she is “100%, unapologetically pro-life.” She has claimed that ending access to abortion was her motivation to run for office and she pledged to prioritize “the right to life.”
Kiggans has repeatedly tried to hide her extremism on reproductive rights from Virginia voters. Last week, she refused to answer questions from The Washington Post and did not respond to questions about how she would vote on abortion restrictions or bans if elected or whether she would support exceptions for rape, incest, or to protect the life of the mother. Kiggans also did not answer questions about how she would vote on legislation that guarantees access to contraception.
“When” is Congresswoman Luria’s third television ad of the cycle.
In June, the Congresswoman released “Oath,” highlighting the oath she took at 17 years before entering the U.S. Naval Academy. Last month, the Congresswoman released her second ad titled “More Horrific” and emphasized her continued service to protect and defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic.
After raising $1.88 million in the second quarter of 2022, Congresswoman Luria’s campaign has more than $4.3 million cash on hand going into the November election for Virginia’s Second Congressional District.
