From DPVA:
While Jen Kiggans Claims It’s Not Her Job to focus on Abortion in Congress; Republicans Introduce National Abortion Ban…In Congress
Richmond, VA – Today, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) announced a new proposal for a national abortion ban alongside radical anti-abortion group Susan B. Anthony List. Jen Kiggans, an anti-abortion extremist who said the issue of abortion is just a “shiny object” and that abortion isn’t an issue “voters really care about,” claimed in Fox News interview, that it’s not her job to address the issue of abortion in Congress saying:
“The issue [abortion] now has evolved in the states. It’s a state-level issue, so voters need to remember that as well.”
Well, Jen, according to your own party, with the introduction of a national abortion ban from Lindsey Graham and other Congressional Republicans, this is an issue that the next Congresswoman from Virginia’s Second District will vote on.
The reason why Jen Kiggans is trying to walk back her stance on abortion because is that she knows her extreme anti-abortion agenda is out of touch with Coastal Virginians and will cost her the election.
That’s why she’s hiding her long record of anti-abortion extremism from Coastal Virginians. But Coastal Virginians won’t forget that when Roe was overturned, Kiggans celebrated overturning decades of women’s rights and vowed to push for more abortion restrictions in Congress, and repeatedly stated she is pro-life.
And as a state Senator, Kiggans voted for a vile anti-abortion amendment aimed to restrict crucial funds for reproductive health care that will disproportionately impact low-income Virginians, promoted false claims about “infanticide,” and consistently voted against legislation to expand access to reproductive health care.
“Coastal Virginias know, that given the chance, Jen Kiggans would vote with Lindsey Graham to institute a national abortion ban,” said DPVA Spokesperson Gianni Snidle. “No matter how hard Kiggans tried to hide her anti-abortion extremism, her record speaks for itself. Voters see Kiggans for who she is, an anti-abortion political opportunist, and will reject her extreme agenda of ripping away women’s reproductive rights this November.”
