UPDATE 3:55 pm – Check out the latest on Winsome Earle-Sears, this time dismissing, minimizing and even ridiculing attacks on Virginia jobs by the Trump/Musk administration. In a sane world, of course, this type of attitude would be automatically disqualifying. Of course, we live in a world where Donald Friggin’ Trump was elected president, so who knows. But still, this should be politically VERY damaging for Earle-Sears and Virginia Republicans, as Virginia’s workers and economy are in the crosshairs by the leaders of THEIR PARTY!

See below for a press release from the Democratic Party of Virginia about Winsome Earle-Sears’ flailing campaign, and how she’s the one who should be “fretting” at this point. On a related note, check out these posts by Sam Shirazi, who comments on a new poll showing the Democratic candidate up by 3 points in the FL06 special election set for Tuesday – as Shirazi points out, “Mike Waltz won [FL06] 2-1 in 2024,” while Trump won it by 30 points. So if the Democrat wins this, or is even close, that’s really not a good sign for Republicans, could even be reminiscent of the “blue wave”/”blue tsunami” years of 2017-2019, after Trump was elected the first time in 2016. As for the Virginia gubernatorial and House of Delegates elections this November, of course a lot can change between now and then, but assuming we have free-and-fair elections, I really would rather be the “blue team” than the “red team” at this point…
WINSOME, LOSE SOME: With a Flailing Campaign, Sears Should Be Fretting
VIRGINIA – It’s been another challenging week for Winsome Earle-Sears as the GOP Governor’s primary accelerates, her opponents strike, and Virginians hold her accountable for her extreme agenda and her dismissive comments. Sears definitely should be fretting.
SETTLING THIS WEEK’S SCORE
Winsome’s Wins:
- Don’t Fret: Sears is adding fuel to her own fire by dismissing Virginians facing layoffs and those who have lost their jobs, saying “do not fret” — as if fretting is the problem when the real problem is Sears refusing to stand up against attacks on Virginia’s workforce and economy. Sears also said job loss “is just life happening,” basically her version of live, laugh, love.
- Number One Problem: New reporting from the Washington Examiner names Winsome Earle-Sears as Virginia Republicans’ biggest problem and highlights how Sears has “struggled,” “churned through staff,” and predicts her campaign will “continue to stumble and stagger.”
- Irresistible and Unforgettable: After Winsome Earle-Sears “couldn’t resist” voting against legislation that would guarantee access to birth control and contraception for Virginia women, Glenn Youngkin gutted the bill this week — reminding Virginians of Sears’ no vote, that she would do the same thing as governor, and making it impossible for her to escape accountability for her extreme record on reproductive rights. Sears has yet to answer why she wants to leave the door open to extreme restrictions on access to birth control and emergency contraception.
- Sears Gets Schooled: A Virginia teacher and elected leaders slammed Winsome Earle-Sears for her extreme agenda to defund public schools and their inaction following Donald Trump’s recent executive order dismantling the U.S. Department of Education. Sears owes Virginians answers about why she supports Trump’s attacks on public education, even though it could mean larger class sizes, less after school and literacy programs, and more students falling behind.
And with Winsome, it’s Virginians who stand to lose the most:
- With a GOP primary field focused on causing chaos, proving their loyalty to Trump, and fighting with each other instead of fighting for the Commonwealth, Virginians will lose the most.
- No matter how much the GOP field fights, they all agree on the same radical agenda backing ongoing attacks on Virginia jobs and workers, defunding public schools, and ripping away reproductive rights.
