VA01 Dem Candidate Shannon Taylor Raises Nearly $750k in 2Q26, Holds Nearly $1M COH

Taylor and several other Democrats are vying to take on the odious-but-well-funded Rep. Rob Wittman (R-VA01)

See below for a press release by VA01 Democratic candidate, Henrico County Commonwealth’s Attorney Shannon Taylor,  on her fundraising numbers for 2Q26. Note that the deadline for Congressional candidates to file their 2Q26 fundraising reports with the FEC is tomorrow, July 15. I’ll definitely be interested to see how much money other VA01 Democratic candidates raised, as well as how much money Rep. Rob Wittman (R-VA01) took in. For some context, Wittman’s 1Q26 report showed that he had $3,859,790 cash on hand; currently, Shannon Taylor has “nearly $1M COH,” according to her press release, so Wittman maintains a big lead…and probably will maintain that through the fall, the question being whether Taylor can close the gap at all. Also for some perspective on the VA01 Democratic primary, as of March 31, the other Democratic candidates had far less than Taylor: Jason Knapp had $265k; Mel Tull had $47k; Salaam Bhatti had $25k; Tim Cywinski had $13k (looks like he has $18k as of June 30); Ericka Kopp had $11k; Elizabeth Dempsey Beggs had $4k.

P.S. See here for 2Q26 fundraising numbers by Rep. Eugene Vindman (D-VA07) and former Rep. Elaine Luria (D-VA02).

Prosecutor Shannon Taylor Raises Nearly $750,000 in Q2, Holds Nearly $1M COH as Momentum Builds to Defeat Rep. Rob Wittman

Shannon has raised over $2 million total and has nearly $1 million cash on hand in this critical red-to-blue race

HENRICO, VA —  Today, Shannon Taylor – Henrico County’s top prosecutor and candidate for Congress in Virginia’s 1st District – announced that her campaign raised nearly $750,000 in the second quarter of 2026, a clear sign of momentum in one of the country’s most competitive congressional races.

“Rob Wittman has spent nearly 20 years in Washington voting to drive up healthcare costs, trading stocks, and looking out for himself instead of Virginia’s families,” said Taylor. “From the Northern Neck, to Chesterfield, to the Historic Triangle, Virginians see Rob Wittman’s record for the betrayal that it is, and they’re ready to hold him accountable.”

Taylor has made cleaning up corruption in Washington and holding politicians like Rob Wittman accountable a defining issue of her campaign. As part of her “Serve the People First” agenda, she supports banning members of Congress from trading stocks, instituting a lifetime ban on members of Congress becoming lobbyists, and mandating real jail time for politicians who break the public trust and abuse their office. Taylor has also pledged not to take a dime of corporate PAC money in her campaign or in Congress.

Taylor enters the third quarter with growing support from across the Commonwealth. She has earned endorsements from Governor Abigail Spanberger, U.S. Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine, and the entire Virginia Democratic Congressional coalition. She also has the support of 25 law enforcement leaders across the Commonwealth, signaling that her campaign is building the broad coalition needed to flip this seat.

Both non-partisan elections race raters Cook Political Report and Inside Elections recently shifted Virginia’s 1st Congressional District in Democrats’ direction, specifically citing the strength of Taylor’s campaign as a major reason for the change.
