“Rep. Tom Garrett and his wife made staffers pick up groceries, clothes — even dog poop”

Smart of the Leslie Cockburn for Congress campaign (see their email below) to pounce on the latest story about batshit-crazy Rep. Tom Garrett (R-VA05), who “made staffers pick up groceries, clothes — even dog poop.” I just hope, as I wrote on Wednesday, that Garrett hangs in there and does not – repeat, NOT! – resign. I’m very much looking forward to the Cockburn campaign using the information that’s already come out about Garrett, plus whatever else happens going forward, including a potential ethics investigation and god knows what else. Poor Virginia GOP Chair John Whitbeck, must be a brutal job to try and corral this bunch o’ crazies.

Hi Lowell,

In case you missed it, Tom Garrett held a press conference yesterday where he admitted, “I don’t know if I want to do this anymore.”

Today, we found out why.

According to Politico, “Rep. Tom Garrett and his wife made staffers pick up groceries, clothes — even dog poop” and his staffers were fed up.

Well, we’re fed up too. We’re fed up with Washington politicians using their offices for personal gain instead of looking out for us.

This is just the sort of abuse of power Leslie has been fighting against her whole career. I know we can count on her to continue that fight for us in Congress.

But now, we need to know if we can count on you to help get Leslie there. Can you chip in today?

Together, we will succeed.

Lowell,

Today at a press conference Tom Garrett admitted that less than twenty four hours ago he considered quitting. Like me, he sees the grassroots support you’ve helped us build around our District. The difference is, he doesn’t want to put in the work – I do.

This campaign is about electing a leader who is committed to solving real problems for real people in Virginia’s 5th District. I have already put more than 50,537 miles on my car, listening and working with constituents from Lawrenceville to Gretna, and up to Warrenton to hammer out real solutions for our District.

I’m fully committed to you and Virginia’s 5th District. The next time Tom waffles on his commitments, let’s make sure he knows that you’re with us 100%.

Pitch in $5 right now

Thank you,
