See below for video from last night’s virtual Fairfax County Democratic Committee (FCDC) meeting, at which members voted on whether or not to make a recommendation on the Redistricting Constitutional Amendment on FCDC’s sample ballot this fall – and if so, what position to take. As you can see, FCDC first voted 58%-38% to reject a motion to NOT make a recommendation at all on the sample ballot, then voted overwhelmingly (77%-16%) to oppose the Redistricting Amendment on the Democratic “sample ballot” this fall, as well as endorse a vehicle tax exemption for disabled veterans and endorse all four bond referenda. Note that FCDC is the largest Democratic committee in the state, and that the Democratic Party of Virginia (DPVA) also recommended rejecting the Redistricting Constitutional Amendment. Now, it’s time for every other local Democratic committee in the state to do the same, for reasons outlined here, here, here, here and here.
