NEW AD: “Oath” Highlights Spanberger’s Record of Public Service

FREDERICKSBURG, VA – The campaign of Rep. Abigail Spanberger — a former federal law enforcement officer and CIA case officer — released its latest ad “Oath.”

“Oath” highlights Spanberger’s career in public service and some of her top legislative priorities, like banning Members of Congress from buying, trading, and selling individual stocks, keeping America competitive with China, and ensuring local law enforcement departments receive the funding they need.

Rep. Abigail Spanberger:

Years ago, my father, a law enforcement officer, wrote to my sisters and me, “there’s no greater vocation than service to country.”

So, when I joined law enforcement, then CIA and now Congress…

I swore an oath to the Constitution to put country first, before party…

And to get things done.

Increase police funding…

Compete with China…

Stop congressional pay raises and insider stock trading.

Because I serve Virginia, not myself.

That’s why I approve this message. I’m Abigail Spanberger.

“Congresswoman Spanberger has been barnstorming the Seventh District introducing herself to new voters, and reintroducing herself to old friends,” said Sam Signori, Campaign Manager, Abigail Spanberger for Congress. “In ‘Oath,’ Virginians will learn more about some of Abigail’s top priorities in Congress, her background in law enforcement and national security, and her enduring love of country.”

BACKGROUND

Abigail Spanberger began her career in public service as a federal law enforcement officer working narcotics and money laundering cases. Then, Spanberger joined the CIA as a case officer, working undercover her entire time at the Agency to keep Americans safe.

Spanberger was first elected to Congress in 2018, becoming the first Democrat elected to Virginia’s Seventh District since 1968.

Spanberger is leading the charge to ban Members of Congress – and their spouses – from buying, trading, and selling individual stocks while in office. Spanberger’s bipartisan TRUST in Congress Act has more than 65 cosponsors.

Spanberger was proud to vote for the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act – which recently became law – that will boost Virginia’s semiconductor industry, grow Virginia’s economy, and keep America ahead of the Chinese Communist Party.

Spanberger continues to call on House leadership to advance her bipartisan Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) on the Beat Program Reauthorization and Parity Act, which would significantly increase funding to advance community policing, expand access to federal grants for local police departments in rural areas and to increase wages for officers in low-income communities.

She was recently ranked as the most bipartisan Member of Congress from Virginia, and among the top five most bipartisan Members of the U.S. House overall.
