From Rep. Elaine Luria (D-VA02)’s reelection campaign:

Banning Abortion Isn’t a “Shiny Object” Used to “Distract,” it’s Reality for Millions of Women in America

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – In a radio interview last Thursday, Jen Kiggans insulted millions of women across the country by calling abortion a “shiny object” that is being used to “distract.” The reality is that while Jen applauded the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, millions of women were stripped of their rights, and states across the country moved to ban abortion and made it harder for women to access the reproductive health care they need.

Jen has said she is  “100%, unapologetically pro-life.” She has said that  abortion was her motivation to run for office, and she pledged to prioritize “the right to life.” Kiggans also supports allowing states to ban abortion without exceptions.

“Access to safe abortions and health care isn’t a “shiny object” as Jen Kiggans insultingly suggested,” Congresswoman Luria said. “The unfortunate reality in the United States that Kiggans applauded is now that states have banned abortion without exceptions for rape or incest, women are forced to carry non-viable pregnancies to term, and doctors are being punished for providing patient care.”

Jen Kiggans is trying to “distract” Virginians from these stories that are happening every day since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade:
