It’s good to see a Democrat – see below for a press release from Loudoun County resident, “seasoned entrepreneur, small business owner, engaged community volunteer and non-profit board member” Paul Siker – stepping up to take on the deplorable Del. Dave LaRock in HD33. For more on LaRock and why he’s deplorable, see DLCC Launches Database and Digital Campaign Highlighting GOP State Legislator Insurrectionists; Virginia Republicans Are Doubling Down On Election Conspiracies And Defending Insurrectionists; Following 1/6/21 Insurrection at U.S. Capitol, Loudoun County Board of Supervisors Demands Resignation of Faaaaar-Right Del. Dave LaRock (R); Loudoun Delegate Dave LaRock (R) in Trouble With The Law…Again; Far-Right Virginia Delegate Shares Post Railing Against a Supposed “engineered tyrannical coup d’état” Against Trump; etc. Of course, HD33 is a “red” district, in which neo-Confederate Corey Stewart got 50% of the vote against Tim Kaine’s 47%, but…maybe there are some relatively reasonable, moderate Republicans in that district who have had it with LaRock’s extremism, sedition and all-around craziness?

Paul Siker Announces Candidacy for the Virginia House of Delegates

Paul Siker, a long-time Waterford, Virginia resident has formally announced his candidacy for the Virginia House of Delegates 33rd District seat presently occupied by Dave LaRock (R).

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Siker is a 33-year resident of Loudoun County, the last 26 being in the Waterford area. Siker and his wife Joni, a former LCPS school counselor, have two grown sons who reside in Northern Virginia.

“I’m a seasoned entrepreneur, small business owner, engaged community volunteer and non-profit board member. I’m running for the House of Delegates (HOD) because residents in Western Loudoun, Clarke, and Frederick Counties deserve significantly better representation in the General Assembly,” said Siker.

A nationally known recruitment and talent acquisition expert, Siker has extensive experience in the technology, healthcare, and non-profit market sectors, and delivers consulting services to clients across North America. “For three decades, name brand companies have engaged me to address complex employment and performance optimization projects,” Siker said. “The formula for my success is simple: I listen, collaborate, build consensus, and get things done. If elected, I’ll bring this skill mix and a spirit of servant leadership to the role of delegate.”

Siker, a self-described fiscal conservative and social moderate, holds a B.A. in Political Science from Wittenberg University. “At my core, I am a pragmatist who has profound respect for our democratic institutions and freedoms. Fifteen years ago, I briefly belonged to the Loudoun County Republican Committee. Today, I am proudly running as a Democrat. I believe in principled, transparent, and character-based leadership. I believe all people should be treated with respect and dignity. I believe that we must talk to one another, not at one another. We all want the same basic things – safety, and financial security for our families, social equity, and related freedoms inherent to the greatest republic ever conceived.”

Siker regards the 33rd District as being a special place in the Commonwealth. “We live in one of the most beautiful and vibrant areas of the country. Yet, there are pressing issues that are being ignored and that call for creative solutions,” he said. Siker’s priorities include expanding the district’s rural economy; incenting preservation initiatives; addressing key transportation issues (such as the Dulles Greenway, and Rt.15 corridor); sustaining top-tier public schools; investing in rural broadband infrastructure, and appropriately pursuing green energy and environmental solutions.

Siker pointed to his volunteer efforts within the community. “I’m on the board of the Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter (LAWS), and the Community Foundation of Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties. LAWS is Loudoun County’s designated domestic and sexual violence agency and has played a vital role in supporting survivors during the pandemic. The Community Foundation is a beacon to our area’s non-profits and in 2020 pushed over $2 million into worthy initiatives that underpin the fabric of the community. Siker also shared his own philanthropic efforts as a blueberry grower. The proceeds from the annual harvest of his 200+ blueberry bushes help organizations like Nothing But Nets (protecting children from mosquito-borne illnesses), and youth mission efforts at Catoctin Presbyterian Church in Waterford, where he is an Elder. “It’s my honor to play a role in these and other organizations.”

Siker closed by saying, “To residents in the HOD 33rd District – I look forward to meeting and speaking with you in the coming months and to demonstrating what quality representation can mean to our community. I hope to earn your support.”
