It Looks Like Former Del. Tim Hugo (R) Is Running for Lt. Governor of Virginia

A bit earlier this evening, former Del. Tim Hugo (R-Fairfax/PW County)’s Facebook page posted the following image – Tim Hugo Lt. Governor. So…it sure looks like Hugo – who was rumored as a possible candidate by VA Political Memes back on July 14 – is running. Assuming he’s not just kidding around, Hugo would be the first elected official or former elected official to throw his hat in the ring for the VA GOP’s 2021 Lt. Governor nomination. Also rumored as a possible candidate is Del. Glenn Davis (R-Virginia Beach). See below the campaign logo for a bit of background on Hugo: basically, he’s an anti-transit, pro-predatory lenders, right wingnut who was – thankfully – defeated by Democrat Dan Helmer in 2019 by about 5 points, ending his long (he’d been a delegate since 2002) and not-particularly-illustrious career in the House of Delegates. In short, this is about the *last* person Virginia would want to elect to a statewide office in 2021…
