This endorsement for State Senate by far-right-extremist Rep. Bob Good (R-VA05) really says it all about insurrectionist/conspiracy-theorist/fellow far-right-extremist State Senator Amanda Chase (R), as well as about today’s Republican Party. According to Good:
“[Amanda Chase is] a champion and a leader on so many issues here in Virginia and nationally to include election integrity, protecting our constitutional rights, like the Second Amendment, pushing back against mask and vaccine mandates and voting against all tax increases. We need to send our known fighter and firebrand back to the Virginia Senate so she can continue to make a difference in the lives of every Virginian.”
So…yeah, that’s what the Republican Party stands for these days – “election integrity” (aka, the “Big Lie”), “pushing back against mask and vaccine mandates,” etc. So much, in other words, for the mainstream conservative Republican Party that existed in this country for over 100 years. Instead, today’s Republican Party is bizarre, disturbing mashup of the John Birch Society, QAnon, Trumpism (“an American political variant of the far right, and the national-populist and neo-nationalist sentiment seen in multiple nations worldwide from the late 2010s to the early 2020s.” That certainly describes who Amanda Chase and Bob Good are…and how important it is that they be booted out of office by voters at the next possible opportunity!
